Gliding Induction Course(GIC)
About Gliding Induction Courses Gliding Induction Courses are designed to provide basic flight instruction to cadets. They allow cadets to experience flying in a glider and handle the controls in a safe and controlled environment. The first time a cadet attends they will be given a GIC1, this teaches them about attitude and how to pitch, GIC2 revises GIC1 and teaches roll while GIC3 revises pitch and roll teaches yaw and demonstrates stalling.

GICs are a great way for cadets to learn about the Vigilant and prepare themselves for the Gliding Scholarship.

Gliding Scholarship (GS)
The gliding scholarship is an 8 hour course, at the end of which you will understand how to fly an aircraft. Initially you will be taught how to control the aircraft in all its planes of movement, then taught to maintain straight flight, turn onto specific headings and fly in a safe manner. Once the Òupper airÓ exercises are completed you will be taught how to take off, fly around a circuit, land and cope with emergencies that may be encountered during a flight.

If you want to apply for a GS course contact your Wing Gliding Liaison Officer.
